Nintendo Switch Sparkle 2 EVO This item will be sent to your system automatically after purchase. The game can be completed within a few hours so doesn’t ever outstay its welcome and I’m more than happy to keep replaying it. The second removes the computer completely allowing you to almost aimlessly complete each objective. The first, competitive mode, pits you against a computer-controlled organism in a race against time to eat the most. That seems to be more a creative decision as opposed to a fault with the game. Where the game slightly suffers for me is in the control department, sometimes I got stuck and it was frustrating to turn around on the spot. The soundtrack works extremely well and its ambient feel can be relaxing, there isn’t a great deal more on offer here though. It isn’t the most demanding game but the graphical stylisation makes this a very pretty thing. Graphically Sparkle looks and runs very well on the Switch. We are not seeing anything new or groundbreaking with Sparkle but everything that it brings to the plate is more than fit for purpose. Sparkle 2 EVO has an interesting visual and sound design, but lacks a truly compelling gameplay hook. We fast forward to the year 2011, Forever Entertainment release Sparkle 2 Evo on a number of platforms, eventually bringing it to the Switch at the tail end of 2017. You become what you eat - you get to choose whether your sparkle becomes a fast and aggressive carnivore, a sluggish but fast-eating herbivore, or an omnivore, whose features lie somewhere in between. Sometimes you will even have to fight for food with other species. The bigger you grow, the deeper you can dive and the differing depths acted as levels. Whilst exploring the Sparkle Void, you find various nutritious elements to eat. Playing as an aquatic microorganism the aim of the game was to consume other microorganisms in an attempt to evolve into something much bigger. Flow was a strange little gem of a game that broke from the norm. Back in 2007 thatgamecompany released their first ever game on the PlayStation 3, it was part of an exclusive three-game deal with Sony. Sparkle 2 Evo is an out and out clone of Flow and that’s probably the biggest compliment I can give it. ![]()
